City of Lincoln - Public Works Employee

The City of Lincoln is seeking a fulltime Public Works employee. Hours: 7:00 AM - 4PM Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM Friday. Qualifications: Commercial applicator license in spraying of Grounds Core, Right of Way, Ornamental Turft, to be obtained within 6 months.  Also, Class B CDL to be obtained within 3 months. 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand tools and operate controls.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and work in confined spaces.

2. The employee must occassionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more. 

Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Operates a variety of material-moving equipment used in the maintenance and repair of City utilities and services, requiring hand and eye coordination to operate levers, joysticks, pedals, etc.
  • Uses operating skills, learned safe practices and awareness of the area surrounding the unit of equipment to avoid injury or damage to persons or property.
  • Use spotters, flaggers or helpers as needed to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Inspects equipment prior and after use in order to identify needed maintenance or repairs, and reports repair needs to appropriate personnel for scheduling repairs.
  • Ensures that equipment is properly fueled, and lubricants are at appropriate levels and tires are properly inflated.
  • Observes and listens to equipment during use to identify malfunctions or parts in need of replacement and shuts down equipment when necessary to prevent further equipment damage or when continued operation creates a safety risk.
  • Washes equipment regularly and cleans the operator area.
  • Performs daily pre-trip inspections.
  • Works safely, follows safe work practices, and identifies and reports unsafe work conditions.
  • Reads water meters, performs water turn on/off for non-payment, locates stop boxes, converts meters, and performs service calls.
  • Performs state and federal mandated water testing and reporting.
  • Performs repairs to water distribution system.
  • Operates and repair hydrants.
  • Operates and maintain water towers.
  • Performs the basic functions of our SCADA system.
  • Performs snow removal operations.
  • Performs street paving and maintenance operations.
  • Performs maintenance and repair city storm sewers.
  • Repair and install street signage.
  • Performs mowing operations.
  • Performs investigations and repairs to sink holes.
  • Performs inspections and maintenance on city wastewater system.
  • Performs state and federal mandated sewage testing and reporting.
  • Operates and repair of sanitary lift stations.
  • Performs maintenance on city buildings and grounds.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on city equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

City of New Rockford - Water Plant Manager

The City of of New Rocford is hiring a full-time water plant manager in charge of the maintenance of the water system, sewer system, and water plant to keep them in good working order and sound condition. 

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 
  • Maintain required certifications of a Water Plant Manager, which is listed above in Job Qualifications.
  • Perform all State and Federal Water Testing and report to appropriate departments.
  • Order all chemicals and supplies needed for proper Water Plant performance.
  • Operates equipment including trucks, tractor, wheeled loader, skid steer loader, snow blower, power mower, chain saw, etc.
  • Performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled labor activities in the operation, routine maintenance and repair of the city water plant and water distribution system.
  • Operates various mechanic/shop power equipment and hand tools.
  • Maintain and/or call appropriate contractors to ensure Water Plant Production.
  • Identifies problem areas, document and reports to Supervisor, in form of Maintenance Action Form.
  • Ensures the timely completion of planned preventive maintenance programs.
  • Responds to emergency situations as necessary.
  • Provides technical assistance as requested.
  • Responsible for the Training of Water Plant Operators.
  • Testing water daily as required by the North Dakota Department of Health.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Class “3" Water Treatment; Class "2" Water Distribution; Class “1” Waste Collection; Class “1” Wastewater Plant Operato
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools used on the job.
  • Knowledge and skill to inspect, repair and adjust pumps, wells, hydrants, valves, well house equipment, and sewer plant equipment, water lines and sewer lines.
  • Knowledge and skill in the installation, repair and reading of water meters.
  • Knowledge and skill in taking samples of water and sewage.
  • Knowledge to keep accurate records for water and wastewater activities.
  • Ability to properly inspect motors and pumps and to analyze need for repair or replacement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, public officials, and the public
SEWER AND WATER DEPARTMENTS
  • Performs daily checks on functioning of pumps, motors, and related equipment in connection with
  • wells, water pumping and ponds at wastewater plant.
  • Checks for proper operation of pumps and controls and correct injection and usage of water and wastewater treatment chemicals.
  • Identifies maintenance needs and assists in performing maintenance and repair on water tower,
  • well house, wastewater lift stations, and wastewater lagoons.
  • Performs repairs and corrective maintenance as necessary to avoid service interruptions.
  • Participates in inspection, maintenance and repair of all water lines, sewer lines, valves and water hydrants throughout the city.
  • Flushes storm and sanitary sewers, clean storm catch basins.
  • Performs routine testing of samples from water and sewer.
  • Replaces and repairs water meters as needed. Flushes water tower as needed and hydrants from tower out bi-annually.
  • Install water meters in consumer establishments.
  • Examines pipes to detect leaks and repairs if necessary.
  • Opens, flushes and repairs sewage lines using hand/power tools to repair damaged lines/components.
  • Walks or drives over established routes and takes readings of water meter dials.
  • Inspects meters and remotes for defects, damage, or unauthorized connections.
  • Verifies readings to locate abnormal consumption fluctuations.
  • Turns service off or on for occupants.
  • Locates water and sewer lines as requested by North Dakota One Call.
  • Collects water and wastewater sample for in house or laboratory testing to ensure water quality
  • and mandated guidelines.
  • Perform any other tasks as required or assigned by the City Commission

Dakota Rural Water District - Water Operator

 

Dakota Rural Water District (DRWD) is seeking a qualified water operator. Must have or be able to obtain a Grade 02 Water Distribution and Grade 02 Water Treatment license.
 
Duties of this position will include general maintenance and operation of DRWD facilities, repairing waterline breaks, water meter repair, install meter setups, service calls to customers, valve repair and replacement, mowing and snow removal at reservoir sites, taking care of operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and booster reservoirs, working with chemicals,  and shop work.  Applicant should have general mechanical knowledge.
 
Once trained the applicant will be required to be on call every third week. Applicant must have a valid drivers license, be self motivated, honest dependable, and have good communication skills.  Applicant must live within 25 miles of Finley.

Starting salary for this position is $22/hr or depending on experience in this field.  It also includes health, vision, and dental insurance and 401k.

The City of Garrison is seeking a qualified applicant for a Water Plant/Distribution Operator/City Maintenance position. The applicant would be required to operate and maintain a Class 3 Surface Water Treatment System and pump station facilities along with adequate qualifications to perform city maintenance.

The job position requires a minimum of one year accredited technical training in the operation of water plant treatment or an equivalent combination of education and experience with water plant treatment processes. Perform and assist with all water plant, water distribution, wastewater, city streets, city grounds, and city landfill maintenance to include the proper operation and maintenance of all heavy equipment.

The position is full time with a starting salary of $18.00 to $32.00 per hour depending on experience with excellent benefits.
