ND Rural Water Systems Association - Training Program Coordinator

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Training Program Coordinator. This is a full-time, non-exempt position (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary and flexible schedule/work arrangements. 

The Training Program Coordinator is instrumental in strengthening the training and overall capacity of small water systems and their personnel. This ultimately reduces the number of public water systems (PWSs) that are out of compliance with health-based standards. The Training Program is also key to ensuring certified operators receive the training they need to retain their licensure.

Summary:

North Dakota Rural Water Systems Association (NDRWSA) is a non-profit, independent corporation governed by an elected board of directors. NDRWSA exists to enhance the quality of life in small communities and rural areas by providing training, technical, managerial, and financial assistance, as well as representation to public water and wastewater utilities while maintaining environmental integrity.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide training, technical, managerial, and financial assistance to small PWSs, tribally owned PWSs, and underserved communities.

• Implement a defined collaborative planning process with appropriate regulatory authorities for the State and stakeholders.

• Provide in-person training to PWS operators for continuing education credits (CEC-approved courses).

• Travel to small PWSs to provide on-site assistance to system personnel regarding problem-solving of water-related issues and on-site compliance training.

• Manage and document the work performed in the program.

• Coordinate and work with NDRWSA and National Rural Water Association (NRWA) staff in areas where they may have a role in the program.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Outstanding communication/presentation/training skills, both written and verbal.

• Exceptional relationship-building skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Experience and knowledge of providing CEC-approved training courses.

• Detailed knowledge of the water industry with the ability to provide sustainable solutions to system personnel and decision-makers is preferable.

• Demonstrated competency in MS Office 365 and proven ability to use digital tools.

• Team player that complements existing NDRWSA staff.

Travel:

• This position may require frequent travel within the state for program purposes.

• Travel throughout the U.S. for National events (1-2 times per year) is possible.

· This job typically works 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday – Friday and will be required to be on call during scheduled evenings and weekends.

· A valid ND Driver's License is required and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL.

· A high school diploma/GED is required; the ability to pass and obtain all required ND State licensing and certification requirements when eligible.

City of Jamestown - Water Maintenance Operator I

The City of Jamestown is accepting applications for the position of Water Maintenance Operator I. This position involves a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled labor activities in the routine operation and maintenance of the water distribution system. Applicants must be able to perform moderately heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time in all types of weather. Applicants must have the ability to learn and understand the hazards and safety precautions common to excavations. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and must hold a valid North Dakota Class "D" driver's license. Applicant must be able to obtain a North Dakota Class "B" driver's license, with air brake endorsement, within one (1) year. The successful applicant must be able to obtain a Class I Water Distribution Operators Certification from the North Dakota State Health Department within two (2) years of employment.

The Water Department operates on a (40) hour work week with such overtime as is required. The starting salary for this position is $3,797 per month. (Salary range: $3,797 - $5,457).

City of Garrison, ND - Water Plant/Distribution Operator/City Maintenance

The City of Garrison is seeking a qualified applicant for a Water Plant/Distribution Operator/City Maintenance position. The applicant would be required to operate and maintain a Class 3 Surface Water Treatment System and pump station facilities.

If selected, the applicant will receive on the job training and testing to obtain a Class 3 certification. Job duties include performing and assisting with all water plant, water distribution, wastewater, city streets, city grounds, and city landfill maintenance to include the proper operation and maintenance of all heavy equipment.

The position is full time with a starting salary of $20.00 to $32.00 per hour depending on experience with excellent benefits.
