On June 16, 2021 the Senate voted to confirm Radhika Fox to be the Assistant Administrator for Water for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). With a vote of 55-43, Fox was confirmed, this after the Senate had voted to invoke cloture on her nomination to cut off debate.
As stated in a previous news release from NRWA, CEO Matthew Holmes stated, “Radhika is a courageous leader in the water sector. We have worked together to tackle the most difficult problems facing rural Americans, including historically underserved communities, which unfortunately tend to have higher concentrations of minority residents. Radhika maintains a fair and honest mind when working to address these water issues, even when people disagree on the best path forward.”
Senator Carper stated on Wednesday in support of Fox, “Ms. Fox brings with her an impressive professional record of service and accomplishment, spanning over two decades, working on water issues at the local, state and federal level. We have the opportunity today to confirm a truly gifted leader and put her to work serving our country right away.”
Now confirmed, Fox will serve as EPA’s top water official, and NRWA looks forward to continue working with her in her new role.
