DUNCAN, Okla. — On March 28, 2022, Rhode Island Rural Water Association (RIRWA) became the 50th State Rural Water Association member of the National Rural Water Association (NRWA). While all 50 states have been represented in the past, Connecticut and Rhode Island were under one umbrella of Atlantic States Rural Water and Wastewater Association (ASRWWA).
After evaluating the effectiveness of serving two states, leaders in both states decided to divide into two separate associations to best serve their members. ASRWWA now represents Connecticut and RIRWA represents Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island Rural Water Association was incorporated in 2021 to serve not only as an advocate for the association members of the state, but a partner in their missions to provide their essential services to the public. RIRWA is accepting utility, associate, and operator memberships, each tailored with carefully chosen services and benefits for each type.
RIRWA members will have access to training, technical assistance, source water protection planning, and regulatory and legislative representation. The 50th State Association is starting off strong with their first Annual Conference to be held Friday, April 22nd at the Quonset "O" Club. More information about the event and options to register can be found on RIRWA's website. Click here to read the rest of the article.
