Equipment

We have a variety of services to provide to any water or wastewater system for a minimal cost.  Bringing water & wastewater services to ND's residents does come at a cost. The operational costs alone can have a huge impact on the user’s rates.  These services are available for free or for a small fee to assist in covering the maintenance cost of the equipment or consumable materials.

Gate Valve Exerciser

One of the available services is the Gate Valve Exerciser. Sometimes a gate valve will not open or close all the way because sediment has built up in the line, or from a lack of servicing throughout the year. Exercising a gate valve open and closed several times “while having a down-stream hydrant with a flow” allows a majority of the material that has settled into the seat of the gate valve to be flush out of the crevasse, allowing the gate to eventually close completely.

The function of this tool is to open and close the gate valves, saving strain on the operator from manually exercising the gate valve.  The physical savings on the body is approximately 60%.  This piece of equipment functions with a two speed hi and low, with high torque and an industrial electric motor. A portable generator will need to be provided by the system.

Pressure Data Loggers

Remote recording of water pressure readings over time is a valuable resource in understanding the hydraulic functions of a water distribution system. Information recorded can assist with troubleshooting pump problems, distribution leaks, distribution pipe sizing issues and periodic water demand problems.

NDRWSA has several remote pressure and temperature data loggers available to insert into your distribution system. The data loggers can be installed indoors or outdoors to aid in data collection. Pressure and temperature readings can be taken as seldom as once per day or as often as every two seconds. Data collected by the data logger is downloaded to a computer, where it can be analyzed and transferred. An additional feature of the data loggers is the ability to do real time pressure monitoring when the data logger is used in conjunction with a computer.

Please contact our staff to discuss the benefits of remote pressure data collection.

Parrot ANAFI Drone

We are excited to announce the Parrot ANAFI Thermal compact drone as our newest equipment additions. Drones are very useful for all kinds of inspections, such as the sides or top of structures. The inspections could vary from a water treatment plant to the complete inspection of a water tower, top to bottom, or any other structure.

This drone is capable of high pixel camera shots, video, and panorama view.

Another unique feature of this drone is its Forward-looking infrared capabilities(FLIR). Using both the camera and the FLIR, visual inspection of the video, photo, or infrared dramatically increases the ease of detecting issues or flaws that normally could be overlooked.

The FLIR aspect also helps with detections of different heat signatures. Some things that could be of concern is a high heat signature indicating bad or worn components, which could ultimately catch fire. Another benefit is the capability of the drone to detect water levels in a water tower or other containment systems.
